The Rules of Money, 3 of 7

Decide your ‘pots’ of money. For food, for bills, for a rainy day etc. A spread-sheet is a good place to plan this. Once a month-payday-allocate money to the pots. Month by month optimise to 1. Pay your bills 2. Manage the future 3. Have some fun.

The Rules of Money, 2 of 7

Standard of Living and Quality of Life are not the same. Chase the latter and all will be well. Chase the former and it’s easy to get distracted from what is truly important.

Tools of Excellence

Regular readers will know that occasionally I have discussed what I believe to be a tool of excellence. Man is a tool maker. He searches out and he creates tools which reduce friction and fatigue in his life. In the past these have been sharpened flints, fire captured during a lightening storm and cooking pots for example. Now they might be a Swiss Army knife, a 2 by 2 matrix, an AI buddy.

The next in my Companion series will be The Seventy Tools of Excellence out on 1st January 2026. Meanwhile How to Beat ChatGPT and MEDS, a wellness strategy are out. Both are instant on kindle, budget priced and a fast no-nonsense read.
